I think my next epic crawls I do at a con will be focused on multi-level; a big "layer cake" of a dungeon with a small diameter yet many stacked levels.

Has anyone tried this, and what success have you had?

(IO, Shaddap - I don't have your budget. ;) j/k of course - all input is welcome.)

Sounds great, will you use a 1/4" piece of plywood to separate the levels?

This is something i am trying tonight, i want to have three levels if i can arrange it. But only two with any action

Mainly just for some height, i want the bottom level to be good distance lower than just one level down from the top.

My general idea is to do the bottom level (which will be DoE) in the center and is kind of a small compact level with an "empty level" in between, with nothing for adventuring, and then the top level that the PC's come into being a rather large "sprawl" type set up.
There will be passages going around the DoE center, with some walkways going out over the DoE, one of the reasons i want it higher up so there maybe some actual falling damage if some one oh gets pushed over the edge... ;)

The design i think looks kind of cool, just hope my mental image and the 2D paper image can be created with what i have.

DoE i have just enough to do it(was very carefull in design to make sure), Sci Fi i have just enough to do it ( i think, may be off on like 2 short passages not sure going from memory), and Caverns enough to do it for the layout. The question is going to come down to spaceing to get everything lifted the way i want. I think i have enough stuff to pull the height of the two large end sections up high enough, the question is getting all of the Sci passages lifted two levels... that may be the problem.... but i think borrowing from some Fantasy and using the nice straigh ones as a base on the first level, i can get it to work....

Well what ever the results i hope to post tommorrow.

I had tried to do a stack two weeks ago, but the pictures got pulled.
I put the main level on the table, then just used the big styrafoam lid pieces from within the DF boxes as the support seperator. When they went down into the lower level pulled the Styrofoam off (i had dismantaled the upper layer all ready).

Wasn't displeased with it, but wanted something "cooler"...
