What size are the room/s, in square inches can you make with the starter sets?

Is the price decrease permanent?

There used to be a picture, i thought it was on the box, that shows pretty much everything in the set, together making a large room (or in actuallity two joined rooms), but i can't seem to find it now, when the redisigned the page they mave have changed the product pictures, or was just in adds i saw in magazines.

the starter can make a room 6 inchs wide and 10 inchs long or about 60 total square inchs of ground coverage. The problem is it will get a little funck with some of the walls, There need to be more of the non corner walls, and some longer walls to get better options for making rooms easier, they are suppossed to be comming out in the Beta set, later this year.

Totally depends on what you are interested in using it for.

War games - Like Necromunda, or War Hammer, might want more of the Room Sets, and Alpha for open spaces, with fewer passages connecting them.

Space Hulk, and RPG might go more for passages, since space hulk is running in crawl situtations through a ship with rooms on the side, lots of passages, and a few rooms would be off those as the little bits that connect the larger passages.

All rooms/starter with some Alpha may be good to if you are setting up RPG only, you can use the walls from the other rooms as walls in the room beside it.

Some only buy one set for like diorama purposses

It all depends on what you are interested in doing with it.

Thanks to the $25/set sale, I initially bought:

4 Starter
2 Alpha
1 Passage

I can create some spectacular and diverse set-ups with this arrangement; whether spread out on a single level, or comprising complicated multi-level set-ups.

However, the stuff was so cool I ended up buying more (before the sale ended), so now I will have:

6 Starter
4 Alpha
4 Passage

Ghenghis Ska recommended to me over on the Star Wars RPG forums at WoTC that a more or less equal distribution of sets was ideal, but that you'll definitely want more of the Starter Sets than the others. He said he had 6 starter, 6 passage and 4 alpha sets and that was pretty much "ideal" at least for his purposes.

As I was limiting myself to approx. $200 per order, I was stuck with buying "only" 7 sets @ $25 per set per order (+ $17.50 S&H) at a time. Hopefully, I will have the "ideal" number of sets for my purposes (SW RPG and Minis) when I get my new order. Although, as Ska said, you can NEVER have "too many" DF sets. ;)

Can't wait for the Beta sets in February!

Hey, DS nice to see you here.

When i said that they were ideal, i was saying depending on your game, i like to mike it up and try to represent some Space ship interiors etc, so Corridirs are very handy for that, but Rooms can be ultimatly more usefull.

Right. Rooms are more useful. Corridors are really only useful if you have multiple starter sets and are doing extended builds of bases and starships, rather than just room set-ups, IMO. YMMV and all that. ;)

Rooms are really the focus in SF gaming; passageways more often than not, are simply the method whereby you get to the rooms.
With Fantasy dungeon crawls, it appears many times that rooms are almost just wide spots in the endless maze of corridors.

I Have to say that I will be looking Forward to the 6" walls if for no other reason than to be able to Build the Corridors adjacent to the Rooms like I tend to do with MM Now...
