Paint/sealing question from a n00b 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I am a painting rookie, so please pardon the basic question.

I'm painting my Dwarvenite pieces with a Reaper Master Series paint (Weathered Stone), and they look great. Do I need to apply a sealant of any kind to the painted pieces? Will the paint chip/rub off over time?

Thanks!

I didn't seal mine and I haven't had any issues. The paint sticks pretty well. If sealing it makes you feel better, go for it, but otherwise I wouldn't bother. If you see some pieces getting worn, you can touch them up and then seal everything.

You won't need a sealer, but I would recommend a cheaper paint for the tiles; most people use Pokorny paints or craft paint for the tiles due to cost...

I'm lucky to live just a wee bit down the road from Reaper HQ, so their paint is my drug of choice. :)

Just depends on how much you have to paint. I got the two set KS (so about three sets total if you consider add-ons) and I I did all of them with half a bottle of Vallejo...

So if you don't have a ton to paint, don't worry. My buddy who ordered 20 sets (thus received 30)...yeah he's using the big bottles!

Regarding paint durability, I found that pieces I painted myself (with Tamiya brand paint) flaked off far easier than the factory painted pieces. I'm currently looking into the best way to seal them as well.
Paint loss won't be that bad through normal use, but scratches will appear over time, and I'd rather not have to repainted everything in a few years.
