Question about short passages 9 Years, 11 Months ago
Hi everyone

This is my first post. I started getting DF a few months ago, and I now have 5 sets (Rooms&Passages, Deluxe Rooms, Octagonal Rooms, Wicked Additions and Narrow Passages).

I want peoples' opinions of short passages. I always seem to need an extra few short passages (I only have the two from Rooms&Passages). Is it worth getting the Short Passages set, or is it enough to use other sets (such as the 6" and 1" passages from advanced builder)? I am buying on a budget :(

Thanks for your feedback!

Heya Hugh;

Welcome to the madness that is Dwarven Forge. ;)

I too am only a relative newcomer to the DF world, and am often having the same problem you have mentioned above. I will also be interested in seeing the 'old-timers' responses to this question, as it will probably sway me 1 way or the other also.

I make a lot of large setups with my dwarven forge collection and have found my 2 short passages sets to be indispensible. A very good investiment IMHO.

I've got the short passages set and am very happy with it. As I was buying the other sets I'd buy a couple (such as Room and Passages and Narrow Passages) then make a few set ups to see what else I needed then buy some more and do set ups again. Well, it always seemed that I didn't have enough short passages, so I ended up buying that set. I'm glad I did and it's very handy, and the dead end cave-in piece looks really nice.

Guess it just Depends on how much You Like to use Passages... I Own One Set and it is Plenty... But then I Do not use Passages as Much as Some here do... They are Just as "Pretty" as any of the DF stuff though!

You've convinced me :)

Besides, I've realised that with a wide dead-end and a portcullis they make good cells.

Hugh,

Another Great way to make Cells, is to buy a Few "Extra" Corner Pieces (The Right angle Room Corners), these work great as Closets, Cells, Lavratory Stalls what ever, when you place them next to eachother you can get a nice "line" of cells running side by side... AND they are very much still a part of your "Jail" room... In any Event, When you Get going Post some Pics so we can see what kind of Devious Prison you come up with!

I have a set. Even with lots of 6" passages I always seem to need them when doing a dungeon of any size. I would pick them up before they go away.

I too, would support the acquisition of short passages.
If you have not noticed we have short passages commonly here:
Standard, Narrow and Cavernous.
Must be useful then, yes?
I know that mine of all three types are.

Just wish they had done 6" Narrow Passages.
The Narrow Passages are just too ignored.
