Cavernous River v Cavernour lake sets 2 Years ago
Hi Folks,
So, which do you find more useful? The cavernous river set or the lake set?

If you had to go with two sets which combo would you take to suppliment some caves and passage ways.

a). 2 x Cavernous River sets.
b). 1 x Cavernous River + 1 x Lake set
c). 2 x Lake Sets.

Interested on how useful people find these two sets and which combo you might consider the best value in terms of options for the money?

Views appreciated.

I currently have 1 of each set and manage fine with that but i do wish i had another river set as it never seems long enough.
If i didn't have any of the sets i would probably Still get 1 of each, then another river set when funds allow.

I like them both, but find the River & WALLS set more useful as it has several free standing cavern walls which I find really increases the utility of the normal cavern sets.

I support both previous views... go for 3 Sets!

2 Cavernous Rivers & Walls Sets
1 Cavernous Lake Set

That's what I just ordered for myself anyway.

Alas my funds will not likley stretch to three sets in one go. Unless I am fortunate to get a very good price for some figures I am hoping to sell in the future to pay for these.

The river sets are going to give you more surface for PCs to actually walk on, while the lake sets are going to give you more effective obstacles to ground movement.

But remember that there are two actual lake sets, the original (in stock this month) and the expansion (in stock this fall). For full options and versatility you'll probably want both, so factor that into the decision-making process.

I agree on saying that River and Walls are more useful than the Lake Set, especially considering that you can also use it in combination with MBS as a river running inside a village (as seen in one of the pics in the gallery, which inspired me to buy it in the 1st place). I have 2 of them at least and 4 Lake Sets plus 10 blank water tiles. This is due to the fact that I wanted to be able to create a large body of water which looked like an underground lake (also inspired by pics in the gallery). It really is amazing, unfortunately my table isn't big enough to include all pieces plus the cavern sets around it in order to create a 'cavern' feeling. I will have to find a solution for that...

Dwarf, any chance you can post a link to the picture with the river running through the village? I couldn't find it and it sounds amazing. I currently have one river set and one lake set en route and am seriously thinking about picking up a second river set. Thanks much!

Hi Arcanedesign,
if you click on 'Photos' up top next to 'News', then select the Medieval Building Sets and click on the 3rd row of pictures, 1st picture on there, is the one that I mean.
Unfortunately, I don't know whose set up that is, but it's the one I mean which inspired me to buy the River and Walls Set.
