For those scenarios that don't take place in your Dwarven Forge pieces are you all using chessex mats? Wargame mats without the grid?

I use chessex mats, and I also print out battle maps on cardstock created in in Dundjinni or by Skeleton key Games (did this a lot for my Ptolus game).

My backups are my chessex mat and sometimes my D&D cardstock tiles.

I use a grass flocked map with a 1-inch grid from Monday Knight Productions.

I don't have any full pictures of the mat by itself. But, here are some pics of it in action!

Nice. How durable is it? Does it feel like something that will last or is it like the grass mat rolls you can buy at Micheal's or Hobby Lobby for $10?

I use the Paizo (formerly Steel Sqwire) flipmats. Cheap, come in different styles, and most are two sided with one side a scenario setup and the other a blank grid of some sort, water, sand, grey, etc. plus you can use dry erase, wet erase, or even permanent markers. It all comes off.

I can't get over the creases from being folded on these. Other than that they are pretty nice.

The Monday Knight mats are very durable. It sheds a little each time I use it, but it hasn't shown any signs of wear at this point and I've had it for quite a while. I have one of those cheap grass mats, and the amount of shedding has made it unusable in a very short time.
