Overpriced DF sets on EBAY 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Take a look at this set: Rooms & Passage Set. Buying this only saves you $10 + shipping. Why would anyone buy this at that price? I see these sets overpriced a lot. There are also some Wicked Additions sets up for about the same discount. All of them are old bow tie sets. Am I missing something?

Over the years I have frequently wondered at the e-bay auctions for sets that are even currently in stock at DF and that end up selling for MORE than they would have had they been bought directly from DF. I have no explanation....

Most of the time it is because the seller does not understand the market.
A long out of print set right before christmas is going to sell for more
than something in stock right after christmas when everyone is broke :)

Some sellers mistakenly think just because some DF sets can go for a lot other less rare sets can fetch the same price.

Other times people just want to save 10.00 bucks and don't care if the set
is used or not.

Also some of it has to do with DF shipping prices but the in the heat of bidding buyers can let their emotions overpower their reason and end up paying
too much.

Is it possible that the buyers think DF is out of business, and thus believe they are getting an out-of-production item? We've heard/read false rumors about DF's status before...

Some people just don't know about df at all. The first time I ever heard of it was on ebay. I bought my first several sets on ebay not knowing there was newer, not bow tie sets.

Talking about overpriced ...

I just spotted some Lizardmen with blowpipes - $95 - EACH

If I felt the trap sets were ridiciolous - that beats it.

Ebay was actually how I found out about DF as well. Luckily I never made the plunge to buy a set on there and found out about the bowtie differences here on the forums.

I also found DF through ebay. I had no idea it was on the market until I found it on ebay.

I used to be so furious with sellers who perpetrated this lie. I still get angry to the extent that it frustrates future sales, since DF is such a small company and doesn't need that kind of word of mouth.

But I no longer feel bad for the buyers getting ripped off. It's called "Google," people. If you're at all curious about a company, especially one that made products you're willing to pay $200 for, GOOGLE IT. Hell, at least Google it to see if you can get a better price.

Which is why I think DF should maintain an e-bay store. Not sure how much it costs, but it could be a great way to advertise.

That's from Noble Knight games. Actually a really good website
if you are looking for older out of print RPG stuff. He occasionally
sells DF stuff and recently started listing his stuff that wasnt selling on ebay.

DF WE sets were fetching a good price(140ish) 3 to 4 months back but
with restocks coming that set is overpriced and wont sell. DF stock
directly effects the secondary market. I think we remember the 400.00
cavern set :)
