I've got money to spend. 2 Years, 2 Months ago
So I just got hired by the NAVY ROTC to tutor Calculus and Physics for the semester. 2 hours per week for 3 months (week off for spring break) and I get $1000. I am going to blow it all on Dwarven Forge stuff (Don't tell the wife). I already have 2 room and passage sets, 1 medieval room set, and 1 ruins set. In March I am thinking about buying the following:

1 Room Set (Maybe)
WA Set 1
WA Set 2
WA Set 3 (Maybe)
Fantasy Floor Set (Maybe)
2 Cavern sets
1 Cavernous Passage Set
1 River & Wall Set
1 Cavernous Lake Set
And depending on what the new sets are and if I like them I will get those.

The "(Maybe)" notes sets I am on the fence about. What would you do differently?

Cheers,

Jericho

You may want to consider picking up one of the Advanced Builder sets and/or the narrow passage set. They're very useful in adding versatility to your set-ups.

And you are going to LOVE the cavernous sets. They are among the best that DF has to offer.

Here's my take:

ABS set! It REALLY helps the versatility of the R&P set + it has straight 6" hallway pieces & narrow doors!
WA 1 & 2 for the large floors, large walls, and decorative bits!
Fantasy Floor Set - definite! Not useful in every set-up, but you will be glad you have it (the peices are gorgeous)
Narrow Passage set (VERY helpful if you like to build multiple levels)

You are spot on with the cavern sets!

Of course, this comes to more than $1000....if you have to cut, maybe trim the Lake Set & the Narrow Passages set?

Any way you slice it, you are going to end up with a whole lot of AWESOME!

If this is going to be a last big splurge for awhile you might want to consider a LE set or 2. The other stuff will come back (usually).

I will not make any suggestions since it is so much a matter of taste.

Jericho, it is all a matter of tastes as its like looking at a table full of delicious desserts and you can only eat so much.

However my advice would be to forgo getting WA #1 and instead get WA #3.

You can get the 6' straight passage and pillars from the single piece section in the store.

The big floor tiles are nice but you have that area covered with your 2 r&p sets plus WA #2

The big loss imho by not getting WA #1 are the four curved pieces that you can use to make alcoves and the awesome portcullis piece.

However with WA #3 you gain the possibility to add cells to your rooms.

You get two reinforced doors that are harder to break then the standard ones. (again adding flavor)

You get two window wall pieces that can add flavor to any room.

A fountain that again can add diversity to a room.

A nice wide set of stairs for those passage pieces you have.

A nice set of double doors to mark entrances, boss rooms, or larger halls.

And the fire wall set to add to players with fire zones. Or areas blocked by fire.

IMHO WA#3 set adds more diversity to what you currently own than WA #1 would.

- Eric

P.S.

If you haven't already, get a set or two of the diagonal walls. For the inexpensive price. they allow you to add much flavor to your standard square rooms.
