Accesories other than DF 2 Years, 11 Months ago
I was hoping on finding some accessories besides DF. I love the DF treasure set but this has been discontinued as far as I know. What are other options for furniture, treasure, etc.? More points if I don't have to paint them.

Check out Tooskerdo and his Ebay store 'Under The Trolls Bridge'

stores.ebay.com/Under-the-Trolls-Bridge?_rdc=1

He sells a nice variety of furnishings that fit into DF builds quite nicely. He even sells a "Chest and loot" set - which sounds pretty much like what you are looking for.

His stuff is not quite the same quality as DF - but still very nice and very friendly on the wallet. I have bought 10+ auctions from him and I have not been disappointed in a single one of his pieces.

Reaper -- www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/treasure ; prime it, paint it black and then dry brush with metallic paints. Its about the easiest thing to paint. I can post pictures of mine in a few weeks.

Then you have your resin options like Scotia Grendel -- www.scotiagrendel.com/Products/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_41&products_id=2708 -- harder to deal with in my opinion. My last order has a lot of air bubbles in them that had to be puttied in.

I haven't ordered anything from Thomarillion yet, but thats next on the list www.thomarillion.de/index.php?seite=katalog&modell=schatz_5erset&pos=1&sprache=gb_&PHPSESSID=l7n25eij6bbu7ne0e3ds41k9h1

Thanks for the info. It looks like I am pretty much going to have to learn to paint some stuff. I am guessing that like most solid surfaces this requires a cleaning, a priming, background and detail paint, and a clear coating. Which primers favor resin and would any metal primer in a spray can work for metal stuff?

Better yet, any good guides?

Thanks again for the info. Cheers!

I also found Mega Miniatures. Has anyone ever used their stuff?

Figure miniatures usually require some cleaning up with an xacto knife, but the treasure ones I've painted haven't. You can wash them but as long as its not vintage stuff it doesn't take much.

I've tried auto primer on miniatures before, but it didn't turn out very well. The hobby primer will work with metal, plastic, and resin. The aerosol primer you should be able to pick up at a local hobby store; just something like this -- www.acrylicosvallejo.com/esp/imprimaciones.html You can also get paint on primer which is more work. I use it in the winter when I no longer have appropriate conditions to spray.

There are plenty of guides and tutorials out there. I would recommend browsing coolminiornot.com and then checking out youtube.

Like I said before, painting treasure minis is pretty damn easy. I wouldn't overthink it.

Here's info on painting.

www.dwarvenforge.com/forum?func=view&catid=11&id=43170

As for Mega Miniatures, good stuff there for cheap! But you have to paint them. Look through the photos section, lots of folks have bought their minis.

Totally agree re Tooskerdoo, I have bought from him as well, no complaints. I believe that Morgar has some treasure sets as well.

Morgar...When did you add English to the PSOM site? I had checked a week or so ago and it was French only. I thank you and my wallet will soon curse you!

The site is in English since one week. Hope the navigation bar too but I have no way to verify.

I have some mega miniatures tables and chairs that I am practicing on - so far they look good. A friend of mine cast me some crates and barrels using Hirst molds and I have finished those and was surprised how well they came out - dry brushing works wonders!

As soon as morgar gets back to me with a quote from psom I will order some of his stuff (it all looks incredible). His bookshelves seem to be the best you can buy in my opinion. I also like the stuff like the Tavern Kitchen and Skull Fountains form Grendel - I may place an order for those too!
