For you experienced DwarvenForgers, which terrain sets would you suggest starting with?

It depends on what you want to do. If you wish to stick with classic dungeon, I'd recommend Room and Passage Sets together with either Wicked Additions, Advanced Builder Set 2 or both.
If you like to do more of the cave style, then of course the Cavern Set, Cavern River and Walls Set and the Cavern Lake Set, though some of those are currently out of stock if I remember correctly.
Alternatively you could start with Medieval Building Sets 1 + 2 and start your adventures in towns and cities, those are my favourite at the moment, especially combined with Cavern River and Walls Set. I have to admit, I have only limited supply of those sets and need to get more of them...

....which reminds me. What about a store in europe to save on the shipping for those nice products of yours? Any news on that yet?

I think I'll start with the room and passage dungeon set. Thanks for the advice.

Off-Topic- I'm not really much of a roleplayer. I prefer to buy miniatures and set up dioramas using terrain. It's too bad they're lacking in the miniature department.

I started with the cavern line. I got two cavern sets and a cavernous passage set and then I was hooked. I think its the line that looks best without any of your own *decorative bits and accessories* to flesh it out (though maybe MBS holds that title now?).

My suggestion is a Cavern set, a Cavernous Passage set and a Cavernous Chasm set to start with. If you got a bit more $$$ to spend, maybe add another Cavern set for more floor and corner tiles, then eventually branching into the water sets.

Really though, no matter what you pick to start with you'll be amazed at pleased.

Good luck and enjoy!!!

I started with two room and passage sets and two room sets. I like the classic line the best because I use it almost every session.

Buy Sci-Fi!

In serious, look at where you plan to do most of your gaming.

Caverns?
Dungeons?
Towns?
Space ships?
Temples to evil?
Ruins?

Buy the set/sets that work best for where you do most of your gamming first, expand as your games expand.

Back in the Day when I Thought I would only be getting one or two sets.. YEAH That happened. I picked up one Cavern set and One room set. I picked up a extra stack of three cavern floors and one large Rooms tile and two orders of 2x2s. Honestly I used the heck out of thoes peices, Yeah I didnt always have wall enough to go round but I could make a heck of alot of diffrnet rooms with what i got out of it. Ah the good old days.. looks at my bookshelf with nealy 14 sets now.. boy how I never saw this coming.

I'm looking for a set that's great for displaying battles. I have an extensive collection of D&D's and I just ordered 27 Dwarven Forge orc miniatures.

Suggestions.

iuf you want to display a battle scene i think the cavern set is the way to go,
you can easily have a large carvern for one big battle with one set.

Alright thanks Jack. Over my DF collection period I'll probably buy a cavern set a dungeon room and passage set and a wicked editions set. On occasion I do like to play D$D so who knows.
