sometime i need other pieces for my dungeon, i create or i buy them.
And i have to paint them to associated with Dwraven forge pieces.
But the results are bad

here is an example

do you have a method?
do anybody know how we must do
i am sure that many of you have already try

i propose that we talk with a popular colour
for example citadel colour from games workshop

i 've use
bestial brown at first, with black chaos
and
bleached bone
kommando khaki
desert yellow

but it is not good

any idea?

Looks great to me!

I use Testers Lt. Grey primer with a dark wash, seems to work (The non-painters can't tell they are "homemade".)

I'm going to be making two large (12m x 12m in scale) lake floor plates as the river sets are apparently not due out for a while.

You are making walls and stuff. I have not tried this, yet..........

I would suggest:

1) Paint entirely in codex gray

2) Wash with thin black wash a few coats

3) drybrush again with codex gray to bring the color back that the wash takes out

4) Drybrush highlight with fortress gray and even go up to bleached bone if you want more contrast and brighter highlights.

I have a set of resin pieces that I found in a little comic store on Maui during my Honeymoon that I was able to match pretty well to the DF colors. Great set - wall section with portcullis, wall section with spell books and niche, well, sarcophagus, and coffin with removeable lid. I'll post a pic on Saturday or Sunday and see if I can find my notes on the color blend I used. I don't always make notes, but if I'm doing several pieces in the same color scheme over a few days' time I usually make a note somewhere so I don't have to spend too much time trying to find that hue again. I know that I used citadel from GW too. They were primed in black then coated with a combination that went something like dark gray, bluish gray, and dark angels green and a dash of bleached bone. Then dry brushed with lighter shades by adding more of the lighter grays and the bleached bone. Again, I'll try to get exact color names and combinations over the weekend.

I could attempt to defend that with "Its a small island and I needed something to do while she was shopping" but the truth is...yeah, I can be a little obsessive about the game. There really was only one comic store on the whole island and I was on a hunt to find old AD&D modules and various minis that I was having trouble locating locally and online. I walked away with a suitcase full of stuff that was just collecting dust on the store's shelves but what I considered a goldmine.

What are you guys using to make the actual pieces? (never mind the paints used... what material are you using to sculpt/mold/cast?)

Dante,

I Know you were asking the Others Who have Actually Built this Stuff... But Was'nt everybody talking about Hirst Arts Earlier? I've Been to the Site a Few Times and Think that there are some Good Options... I Also Spoke with some of the Guys at Dragon A Couple years Back... It is a lot of Work I Think until you Get your Own System Down, and Enough of the Expansions to be able to Branch out... I Remember it Occuring to me that Were I To go this route I would Want to Use the Hirst Blocks to Build the Models to Make Full Forms in order to Cast Usable Molds for Whole Pieces to reproduce rather than Doing Every thing One Brick at a Time... There was a Very Humble Offering from DF there too which I had long since been Collecting, and the ABS had Just Come Out... My Thoughts at the Time were Thank Goodness DF is Here so that I Don't have to Build my Dungeon Stone by Stone... Of Course One Could Do Some Great One of Elements like Crypts, or Alters, unique "Entrances" etc... And Of Course the Pic that Tom Posted is A Good Example of a Creative Piece of Architechture...
