Hello friends,

Mmmm... I was thinking how that problem would be solved, well, I was amazed when I saw the mosaics, but it really seemed to me very complicated for the factory to achieve.

If I have to choose between prize increase or sacrifice the color in the mosaics, I would sacrifice the color. I would not mind having the RotA in clear (white, bone, beige, desert sand), and I would like the clear patron for palace, ruins, elven, pyramid, good aligned temples, etc. It would appeal more general to me. And people would still have the choice of painting the mosaics themselves (please don't be too rude to me for this idea).

So, if the paint scheme loses color, I'm still in for the RotA. Just my opinion.

Greetings!

Stefan,

Just an idea here, don't KNOW if it will work.

Many model railroad car manufacturers have gone from decals to a technique called "pad painting" for their designs and markings. It gives all the details and crisp edges needed for N-scale painting, but is more permanent than decals and faster, because it IS painting. I don't know how it works, but perhaps you might want to look into it - or suggest The Workshop look into it, because anything that can reduce THEIR costs would reduce YOURS - and therefore, ours. And if that can be done without sacrificing quality, well...

Just an idea...I don't KNOW that it would work.

Stefan,

I can understand the logistics of pricing - with a weak U.S. dollar and increasing fuel costs, that ultimately ends up making your costs go up. That means that prices have to increase accordingly.

That sucks, but that's the way it goes.

I do hope that the Advanced Builder II set doesn't go up too much - it's a must have for me.

Bad news is in......unfortunately the pricing is WAY too high! As it stands now, we would have to sell a set of the realms of Ancients (single layer box) for around $300-400!

Obviously, we will have no choice but to revise the paint scheme on all the pieces....

The sculpting will remain the same, so there is nothing stopping anyone from creating their own personal mosaic designs if they like...

Possibly, we can release a limited edition number of painted 4x4 rooms individually...

Actually, ALL our factory prices are going up yet again! This does not bode well for the future of our entire business. I am going to be totally honest with everyone here, we may have to stop producing many of our older Sets or else raise the prices considerably...I highly recommend that if there are Sets that you are on the fence about, now is the time to get them before they either go up in price or disapear forever...

Sorry for this bad news.

Hopefully, the economy will get better next year....

AHHHHHHH!!!!!

I was just about to sell a bunch of my stuff to and then every Gencon pick up 4 to 6 sets to replenish the classic and cavern stuff I am selling (Maybe not now.) If for not other reason to get the nice clean look of the bow-tieless sets. (As a side to pay for my table as well. Heck I even went out and got a job; UPS Aircraft Weight and Balance admin spot, which I only applied for a Box Handler. Got to love those occasions where you are over qualified for something. Or was it just plain dumb luck...or possibly I am a year and a half from completing my degree who knows but over double the pay of the box handler.)

Does this also mean the Advance Builder Set II will be delayed since the RoA is? I need my resin crack addiction satisfied a little.

The mosaics are beautiful, but a plainer paint scheme would be waaaaaaay more versatile. I'd rather have two plain sets of ROTE that one fancy one.

I agree ... and not for the simple reason to avoid sending my wallet into convulsions. I'd rather get (or adapt) rooms with the mosaic to represent "Special Locations" rather than every room be so decorated. This way, "Special" stays special without becoming common.

But, another price increase is bad news, indeed.

Hey I have an idea " don't laugh now " I'll try to explain it and hope it works. I sometimes use color pencils or even a color sharpe to cut time and it works great " sharpe on a light grey or white surface and Pencil on a NON SLICK darker one ". What I am getting at is if you use a slighly rough paint " like most paint is before you ink it or put some protectant on it " and it is dark you can, with sharp pencils pencil the mosaic in with a large varity of colors and if you paint the mosaic white then ink the crevises " markers just show up better over very lite surface where as pencil will carry it's own pigment and show up even on a darker one " you can use a more limited but probably longer lasting color with a fine tip permanant marker. Just make sure and spray the piece with a coat of something to protect it when done. I guess it seem complicated but with the tips of the pencils or markers can come intence detail for minimal effort and rapidly. Ehhhhhhh thats it.

I would LOVE to get RoA sets with out the Hard Core paint job. (Not that I wouldn't of loved it as well.) That way I could "customize" some for myself the detailed paint job.

Pretty much as others have said but just wanted to add another vote to it.

I would vote for RotA going on sale with a basic paint job, but including a guide to applying more complex painted designs on the floor mosaics.

Our newest design is basically just two tones, sand/dust in the cracks and darker stone color on the raised mosaics...this should reduce the cost dramatically and quite honestly, I think some people might even like it better. It shows the pattern of the mosaics quite clearly and will allow you guys to add your own touches where you like if your inclined to do so. There is still lot's of colors and decoration on the walls so it is by no means a plain looking Set, just a little more Generic in a good way. From some of the posts here it seems that might be a plus. I still hope to offer a Limited batch of the Highly detailed 4x4 rooms for those who wish.

I'll post a picture as soon as I get another quote from our factory and am sure that it is going forward.
