Cavern Set-Up Question? 7 Years, 2 Months ago
Greetings all. After many years of staring, I finally bought 2 Den of Evil Sets. With that out of the way, I want to plan my next purchase. I need to know what type and how many of the various cavern sets do I need to recreate a roughly 2' x 2' square playing area for a under ground smuggler's den. I also need about 1/4 of the middle space to have water to hold a medium-sized pirate ship. I figured those who already has the sets could help me out. If possible I would like to keep this to 4 sets or less. I'm not so concerned with having the twisting tunnels, but rather I need the 2 x 2 area, as I plan to use the various rules from Rattrap Productions and that is their standard playing field size. Thanks.

Hello Joey,

I would say that you could do something quite good with only 2 sets: The Cavern Set and the Cavernous Lake Set. This will easily cover about 2'x 3' of table space at least. That would be the minimum for what you want i think. But If you wanted more area and flexability I would also recommend the Cavernous River Set as it has many freestanding walls that will help to enclose your Set up. If you wanted more room shapes for your DOE I would then get a DOE room set as it has more of the smaller "room" pieces...after that, it really depends on what you like and want to build...

Have Fun!

Here's my advice: pick up the Cavern Set and the Cavernous Lake Set, as recommended by Stefan. Then start planning and saving for future. This stuff is more addictive than heroin and tobacco combined!

The really cool part of it is that unlike those substances, Master Maze:
- Isn't illegal in any of the 50 states or Western Europe
- Doesn't cause lung cancer, emphysema, heart disease, or central nervous system disorders
- Isn't consumed, causing you to purchase increasing larger amounts to get the same effect
- Gives you amazingly pleasurable feelings every time you take it out of the box
- Inspires admiration and envy in your peers

Once you're hooked, there's no turning back. And it feels really good!!!

Man,
I don't think I would even dare touch my stuff to do any modifications on it. The stuff is too good the play around with. And.....my skills are severly lacking :)(

So think my lungs are safe :D

Thanks everyone. My initial plans are now 1 Lake Set, 2 Cavern Sets, and 1 River Set. Of course now that I have figured up my finances, I'll have to wait a bit. I've got to fund a significant portion of my wedding and I refuse to go into debt for the event. Now I have to wait a month or two for my new beauties. I also wanted to get the two expansion packs for the DOE, but that will have to wait as well. Thanks for the help.

Hey Joey -
Welcome aboard !!

Congrats on your upcoming nuptuals !! Sure, you refuse to go into debt for the event but that debt will find you once you're hitched ;) Here's a thought, why don't you register for Dwarven Forge ?!! Hey, we all get stuck with the wife-to-be registering for fine china, silver and crystal that we use what, once a year ?!! Why not get something more durable than crystal that will get used much more often ?!!

Jeff, Doug, what about adding a Bridal Registry feature that ties into the Wish List ?? :D

Man that would be great. I registered at Sears asking for power tools but in hind sight DF gets used more often. That would have been great.
