Hi!

I've developed my own Tilesets with my number of pieces and distributed the DF pieces (and Mystic Blocks!) in types with my own criteria almost from the begining but... Type that's just a number... can I put a name on it? mmm... perhaps I've deleted some of the attributes... that TileType you say... I think I may have passed over it...

Thank you very much! let's see...

You can define as many types as you want, rather that being limited to the original 4 types.
Yes, you can give your types their own names.

The Doom tileset I linked to is different than the one you may have downloaded long ago.
The new Doom tilesets demonstrate the new "TileType" features and can be educational.

Excellent! I'm really close(TM) now to getting the MBS and DOE WA set into TM as well (I have to use them soon).

Now if you just had a native mac version... of course, with parallels, not too bad.

I Just checked the TileSystem Page and saw that Version 3.0 was available. I allready downloaded it and hopefully find some time soon to check it out with the current MM Tilesets.

I also just calculated what completing my DF collection might cost me currently. If I keep my 'take two of each set' principle it will cost so much, that I have at least to wait until all currently announced sets are available and of course until my bank account allows for the investment.
So it will at least take a couple of month until I will be able to order the new sets (DOE WA, DOE Room, MBS, MBES, and if I am right, I saw during my short sneaks I take now and then, that there might also be a Tavern set ...). As soon as I own them I will report it here and try to find the time to produce some new nice photo tile sets.

A quick check of the new TS Version 3.0 with the actual MM TileSets shows that they seem work. I was able to load the actual tile sets, example maps and also to create new maps.
Despite the startup and loading of files now seems to take longer, the activated OpenGL rendering is very fast on my graphics card, even though it is not the freshest one (an ATI X800Pro with 256 MB).

Do you still need me to make the xml for MBS set? (I know I have to for DOE WA... my drawings aren't even done yet.) 8-)

Lonestarr, the slower load-time when doing OpenGL, is due to the fact that the textures have to be loaded onto the graphics card's memory and OpenGL has to do some processing of their own.

I am glad OpenGL is working for you and renders faster. I have only had 4 different cards to test it on. One of which was slower at OpenGL, than it was in normal software rendering.

News: I just finished adding a feature that allows you to specify how many columns of tiles should appear in the tile panel. Ranging from 1 (default) to 6. You can also specify if you wish to have smaller images in the panel, in order to fit more stuff on the screen at once. This is a viewer option, so there is no change to the tileset file format.

I will upload the new version after I have finished receiving feature requests.

Anyone have any more feature requests?

Lonestarr, do you have any use for the catagories?

The reason I ask is this: Right now, catagories (TileTypes) also determine the order in which tiles are drawn. (Higher number types render after lower number types.)

I can imagine situations where this would not be the desired behavior. For example, if you wanted to organize the tiles into catagories based on which Dwarven Forge Set they are part of, then it wouldn't make sense to draw them in that order. Den of Evil peices should not draw on top, or behind, peices from the Cavern Set...

I am considering adding a new attribute to the Tile entry in the tileset file format. An attribute that controls draw-order and is seperate from the tile's type. I just wanted to see what your thoughts were.

Ghenghis, you could always make custom tilesets.

You would have to experiment with the tileset file format and generate png files for your custom pieces.

Well, I went ahead and implemented the draw-order flag.

Here is version 3.0.1:
members.cox.net/shawnriordan/TileSystem_301.zip

To play with the tile panel settings, go to the view menu, then pick the "Tile Panel" sub-menu.

Any more ideas, or should I stick a fork in it?
