Harneloot:

Another way to afford DF is to consider the product a tax deduction. After all, an attic lined with DF makes for some great insulation! I bet a good accountant could come up with a deduction for this...

The MBS is a building and you might be able to take out a home improvement loan to add on to your house. Just tell the bank that you new home addition is not only modular but also very durable and you're set. Interest for home improvements should be tax deductable.

To justify DOE sets, I'd recommend a religious donation deduction. Just write those sets off as church donations!

Any trap sets could be written off as educational expenses. After all, you bought those trap sets to determine the speed of a ball rolling down a 30 degree incline for a future career in physics...

There, now you should have enough cash coming back on April 15 to buy more!

:)

How about I start up a D&D camp liek business, where I charge parents to baby-sit a group of kids all day while I run them through DF inspired dungeons and teach them the finer points of D&D, role-playing and DMing?

Then, its all a write off for my business!!!

Great points, Aracon !!!
I like the way you think :)

Maybe DF can be used as a medical deduction as well ... it's a much better mood enhancer / stabilizer than ridalin or prozac !!!

And it also falls under occupational therapy ... fine motor-skill enhancement assembling those layouts (especially if you use those bowties) !!

I wonder if I can get Turbo Tax to accept the deduction :D

Welcome to the boards, btw !!

Thanks for the welcome.

I've been lurking around for years... just decided to stop by and say hi. I have some nifty photos to contribute, but in the interim I thought I would help Harneloot out on his habit.

Heh heh, babysitting and occupational therapy deductions are funny.

I'm sure a clever accountant on here can help Harneloot with some deductions... styrofoam attic insultation at $125 per cubic foot, occupational therapy deductions, etc.

Dwarven forge just needs to change its name to Dwarven Forge Medical & Home Improvements and we'd be set, lol.

Myrthe,
Not sure about DF as a mood enchancer/stablizer. Granted, looking at a great setup is pleasing to the eye and does provide the creator a sense of achievement.

I prefer to look at gaming as a whole (DF plus all the various rules sets that I'm sure we all inevitably own) as a form of therapy for one's emotional well being. After all, where else can one find a way to kill monsters, solve riddles/traps, vent stress.....did I mention kill monsters :D and save the day? Great for one's emotional well being if you ask me :)

Has to be a way to get the entire hobby classified as some form of therapy :) Stress management anyone?
