Sam -

Where did you find those "out of print" sets???

Did you order them from Otherworld Games in England? If so, how horrible was the shipping costs?

Yes, I'd love to purchase a bunch of stuff from Otherworld, but am afraid the shipping will be outrageous.

I wonder how long the last 9 diagonal walls will stay up there...

Diagonal walls are great. I wish I had 50 of them (2 sets).
In terms of shipping:

I bought: 3 narrow passage sets, 12 narrow passage ind pieces, 8*6" straight wall pieces, 2 idols from Otherworld games. Shipping to California, USA wasn't cheap BUT it was fast (like 5 days fast). I think 70 quid which wouldn't be so bad except for the insane devaluation of the US dollar in recent years.
I bought: 1 narrow passage set, 1 diagonal wall set, 1 short passage set, 1 diagonal wall set, 1 curved passage/wall set, 1 ogres den for MSRP from tricky kid on ebay. Shipping was pretty cheap from him as he was able to comine the sets in one order and he lived in the states (like $30).
Cheers,
Sam

Harneloot, Sam, Jack

At least you only want some out-of-print sets. All the rest you can get directly from DF. For us here in Europe we have to pay similar amounts for shipping (or worse) every time DF comes out with a new set.

To a certain degree this is the reason I've been driven more and more down the route to build stuff myself. Plaster and resin I can source locally - and the molds are cheap to ship.

We really need a local distributor again. In the meantime - support Otherworld while his stocks last. He is the closest we have to a European distributor at the moment.

Personally I don't know what I'm gonna do, when Richard @ otherworld runs out of stock, shipping from the states is gonna hurt, still maybe we can persuade him to get more stock?! Probably not, looks like I'm gonna have pay transatlantic shipping costs when that happens. Darn. Though to be fair I want to get some of the SF bits and MBS looks good, hmmm. Uh-oh this is gonna hurt!!!

That's pretty much how long it took him to deliver in the UK, I'm dead impressed!

Hey guys,
At least you guys in Europe have Otherworld to supply the stuff for the moment. Down under in Australia, it costs an arm and a leg, probably a major bodily organ or two as well to ship stuff down under.

Thod, to be honest, when I initially got into DF stuff, it was for the ease of use plus the great looking sets. However, seeing the stuff you have done plus some of the other custom items out there, have to admit, I am plan to give it a shot as well :) However, nothing will beat the sculpting and ease of use of DF. THey will probably form the basis of my just growing collection with the custom stuff, hopefully of some quality that I can also use alongside the DF stuff :) Specially since the plaster/dental stone is for grabs at work :)

I suddenly feel really cheap, 'cos all I could afford was 1 Room & Passage Set, 1 Room Set, 1 of @ Wicked Addtions, 4 extra corners, 4 alcoves & a box of pit traps!!! Mind you I still gotta eat, pay the rent and most important of all buy beer!
LOL, Large or small Dwarven Forge Sets rule them all!!
