He guys/gals
I have been debating about buying DF and finally I dove in.
I do have a limited amount of cash so I bought the :
Room and Passage Set
Set of stairs
Set of Pillars
and 6x6 floor

Got my stuff today and I love it too death..but I have a few questions
Where should I go from here....? Remember low on cash :P
does cavern pieces fit well with the passage set..as in looks?
Also a design question is there some type of filler for half inch spaces...like a floor piece? Or is there a trick to building a room that has walls for only 2 spaces(entrance) with in a larger room. Any advice would be awesome as I stated I'm a DM and a newbie to DF.(but can see being a addict someday):P
Thanks
Yack.

Yack,
The older stuff will be increasing in price in January so if I were you I'd go after the deluxe room set and an advanced builder set or wicked additions set 1.
Hmmmm....
so for me, the cheapest addition would be
A Deluxe Room+ABS or WA1
with a bit more money I'd get
B.2 Deluxe Room+ABS+WA1
with even more money I'd get
C.2 Deluxe Room+ABS+WA1+Diagonal Wall set (ebay)+ Narrow/Short Passage set (ebay)

I found that I used most of the room pieces fromt he R+P set and all of the deluxe room pieces in my constructions so far so fewer R+P sets are needed for me.
Also, the cavern sets are cool, but not as modular as the basic sets. If I had a limited budget I'd start with the basic master maze. Also, I'm not sure if the cavern pieces are increasing in price with the old mastermaze in Januray.
Other bits of info.
DoE is beautiful and limited edition.... meh.
There are only 3 Cavernous R+P sets left at the moment..... I think.
Take care Yack,
Sam

Welcome!

Yes, those 1/2" floor pieces and ways to place doors in corners etc. all come with the Advanced Builder Set -- that sounds like a must-own to you, it meets a lot of your needs.

The cavern stuff looks really good with the regular dungeon pieces -- you can either transition between them (the cavern set includes two transitional elements) or you can simply use htem right along side one another, which looks good. If you use mainly dungeon pieces, it'll look like there's some "unfinished" or ruined part of hte room -- if you use mainly cavern pieces, it'll look like there is some "built up" area in the cavern.

Other than that, I'd say "follow your interests." Really, it's all good, so if you're low on funds, figure out what you like/don't like about what you have now, and build accordingly. If you like the caverns and want more, there are things like Cavernous Passages or the Cavernous water sets -- if you want to expand on your dungeon stuff instead, there are the Wicked expansions, or the fantasy floor set. If you want to try something completely different, there are sets like Den of Evil or the Medieval Building Set. It's really impossible to say where you should go without knowing what sorts of things you want to build.

I will leave one word of concrete advice, though -- consider how you use the passages from the Room and Passage set. If you really love them and want more, then you will probably want to get more sets involving passages, or even the Traps sets, both of which heavily feature passage elements. If you find that you prefer the basic room building elements, and don't use the passages as much, then definitely avoid getting another R&P set -- get a deluxe room set instead (torches!) or just a basic room set. If you find you REALLY don' t have a use for passages, take that into account when looking at sets like the Den of Evil, which has lots of passage elements to it, or the Medieval Set, which has no passages at all.

Good luck!

Hey guys,
That prefect that was the advice I was looking for.
I figured out what I was doing wrong with the floor to have the half inch space.. I learnt I guess trick number 1 of hundreds. The straight wall with 2 floor spaces is now my favorite piece. (need more... )
All I have to say is wow this stuff is nice and worth the price.
Sam thanks for telling me about the price hike didn't know that. Shipping to Canada is pricey... :(
L thanks for the warm welcome and thanks for pointing me in the right direction..the advanced set is in my wish list maybe I'll gobble that up and play around with it. A couple cavern pieces just for effect is what I was looking for and the river set is a must at some point for me. After seeing all the pics here I had a serious drool.

Yack,

I also highly recommend the Advanced Builders Set. This set has so many useful and unusual pieces they will greatly expand the capabilities of your existing sets and will add considerable variety to your setups as well.

BTW,

From what part of Canada are you from?

The Advanced Builder set is incredibly useful. I grabbed four sets as soon as it came out. It expands the versatility of your Master Maze in numerous ways.

I know what it's like to be low on funds, but whatever you can get, you'll love.b
