So, I'm quite happy to store my 'sets' in their original boxes - they slot in nicely, it's easy to get the bits in and out, etc. But what about all the 'individual' bits, in their ratty wee cardboard boxes? It's a pain in the neck, getting them in and out, and it's hard to know what's where (I keep all the little boxes in a bigger box). Any good ideas folks please?

Cheers,
Phil

Medieval Buildings Set, Caverns x2, Cavernous Passages, Room and Passage, Deluxe Room, Octagonal Room, Narrow Passages, Advanced Builder, Wicked Additions I, Wicked Additions II, Traps I, Traps II, lots of individual pieces. I want Cavernous Rivers, and Cavernous Lakes, and Cavernous Ledges. Can you tell that I like caverns?

I organize my "bits" in art bins -- big plastic longboxes from art stores with compartments, vaguely similar to what people store things like fishing lures or toolbox items (nuts, bolts, screws, etc)

I also occasionally store my regular DF elements in larger, non-compartmental bins, since they are sturdy enough not to always need the styrofoam. I keep the "official" boxes whenever I can, but it gets to be a bit much, and I can squeeze the same amount of walls in a MUCH smaller space if I compromise a bit. I've discovered over the years that these things are pretty darn durable, and with this many of them, I figure I can't have it all...

In the US, the store I'm thinking of is The Container Store. I don't know what the UK equivalent is, but they sell all kinds of boxes and racks and closet organizers. They should have a section where they sell all kinds of foam padding and bubble wrap and other padding materials that you can either wrap around your individual DF pieces, or cut slots into it to accept the same pieces (depending on the thickness of the materials.

Some of the same stuff might also be available at a shipping center, like FedEx or UPS or even a major post office hub.

Thick foam padding (one inch to one foot) is also available at a large fabric or upholstery store.
