Cheers Jim, I will give that mix a try.
I guess I use GW paints because that's what I have always used. My friends tell me that Vallejo are better, it's just that the 'transition' between the two could be difficult for me and I do not want to have to throw away over 100 GW paints in order to avoid using both sets of colours at the same time. I will have a think about this one, GW paints are great but they are very expensive for the amount of paint you get in a pot, and yes they do dry up quickly even with the new pots.

Word from my gaming store is Vellejo points matched GW's colors...
That said, GW does dry quicker, but that is good and bad, it does dry quicker on models as well, which means less time waiting.

The Vellejo paints come in drip bottles as well, good for using a pallete...

Oh..and in thoery, the GW new tops are supposed to be more airtight.. but my FLGS guy recommend using a bit of vaseline on the bottle threads to insure a tight seal...

Cheers

Interesting - is there a list anywhere that gives a "this vallejo colour = this GW colour" ?
If there is, I may be able to start to slowly replace my GW collection as they run/dry out through attrition.

Thanks for this Robert - it may give me 'out' without costing me lots or confusing my painting.

The Vallejo Game Color line (not the Model Color) is designed to match up to Citadel paints from GW. The names are very similar, for that same reason. I think there's a chart for the paints; I found one here:

I'm in the process of switching over to Vallejo - cheaper and (obviously) more airtight (I like the drip feature as well as I often do custom blends...) - I still have GW paints from when they were round with the flat top...before going hexagonal or what not...now they are wider and squat and the top comes (screws) off completely (used to stay atached and they sort of popped off)....well I've had a much higher percentage of the newer paints dry out where my very old ones are still going strong (less paint in the new ones too - even though they look larger)...I have recently bought about 10-12 Vallejo paints (but have yet to use them...looking foreward to it - but just been too busy lately). I also have paints from other compaines as well (including a few of the old Armory paints in the larger glass jars...though most have been died up or used up for years...)

Guys;

I can't remember WHERE I got this from, so I can't give Hard, CONCRETE testimony, but I was told that the problem with the Citadel Colours paints was not just the CAPS, but the plastic itself was oxygen-permeable. This resulted in the paints oxidizing and then drying out, even with a full seal on the caps.
Now, I have NOT tested this, but the person who told me this was someone I trust - either a retailer who sells GW colors, or a heavy-duty gamer who uses GW colors A LOT - on GW models (A WHOLE LOT!!!).

If anyone has HARD EVIDENCE on this, either way, please post here. I don't REALLY care whether I'm right on wrong on this one - I just want the facts.

Thanks, guys!

See ya!
