Heya MyLordVoid;

DarkFather,

Sounds Pretty Good... And I agree, those who Generalize the Lack of Intellect involved in Role-playing are likely to be either Listening to a lot of Fundamentalist Propaganda, or Have not had a Chance to Observe Really Creative People Get a Game Going... I am of Course not willing to Imply that ALL Gamers are Genius or anything, but it does take a Level of Intelligent, Communicative and Creative Effort to Play these Games... The More So I Think for the GM, but that IS biased... Players have to Exorcise the "Role-play In Character" Muscle if they want to Keep things Fresh and Interesting...

I couldn't agree more with the above statements.

In Any Event Good Luck to the Lads as they Attempt to Tame their Bit O' the World... And Of Course I Have to Ask... Any of Those Dark Caverns have Older Less obvious, more Dangerous Residents then Frost Orcs?...<HeHeHe>....

Why of course there will be. I am going to have a secret passage located during 'renovations' which leads to either 1)an abandoned summoning room, or 2) A portal to another part of the realm (where creatures are stnadard, but look different (Faerunian/Warforged creatures). I haven't decided yet. (Depends what DF stuff I get next). ;)

(Faerunian/Warforged creatures) - I do not play in the Forgotten Realms Campaign world or Ebberon, all my games are in my homebrew world, but with the 'onslaught/force feeeding' of WotC and their 'campaign based minis' I need to use them somehow. So I figured I would have a 'homebrew Faerun/Ebberon' as part of my realm.

Example - Dekanter Goblins & Bladebearer Hobgoblins = homebrew Fire Goblin/Hobgoblin, Warforged (anything) = homebrew Soul Golems, of varying sizes, etc al. I hopefully can make it believable, and workable.

Law,

That is A Nice Collection... And I Think At Some Point I Probably Inventoried all of my Misc. Bits... I Think it would Be Easier to List Stuff I Do Not Have Since I Have Purchased so Many Individual Pieces over the Last Few Years so Here Goes...

I Do NOT Have:

Curved Wall and Passages....(Long out of Print).
Advanced Builder.................(Though I Have Heard Mucho Good Stuff).
Narrow Passages..................(Now out of Print).
Cavernous Passages.............(Kinda' Pricey for 1 Set).
Dungeon Furniture................(Did not really Need it).
Dungeon Accessories............(Want it Never Got Around to it).
Magic Items/ Treasure Set.....(See Above).

Sci-Fi Passages.....................(Have Not Decided if I NEED them or Not).

So Looking at this List of Don't Haves, I Guess there is quite a Bit that Separates me from the One Of Each Catagory... And The Only Set that I Have Two of is the First Cavern Set... And a lot of the Orcs and Skeletons...

DarkFather,

Yup... I Have a Hard Time running a "Set" World, (Read as Purchased Campaign World), as I end up rewriting everything anyway... It's Easier and More Fun to Create the Details of a Campaign World as a Group Goes through it... If I Want/ Need to Add some "Special" Monster Type... Well... There is always Room For an Unusual Lair of Something Extra-ordinary in any World, Between Portals, Gates, Rifts, Inter-dimensional Tears Etc... Not To Mention Insane Spell Castors of All Flavors... There are Plenty of Explanations available... Which Also Leads to Potential Sub-plots... Oh... Not to Mention the Ever Possible Unexplored Lands to the ______ (Pick one: N.E.W.S.)... All in All there is Always Room For a New Moster Type... (In my Less than Humble Opinion)...

Not counting accessories, at this point all I don't have is the Sci-fi Alpha and passage sets and the Ogres Den. Our Star Wars game pretty much died, so have no need for them at present.

MyLordVoid -- I REALLY highly recommend the Cavernous Passage set. It is easily one of the top sets they've ever done.

I'd say the top sets, in terms of "eye-catching spectacular will make people huge fans of DF" stuff are the two caverns sets, the fantasy floor set, and the two Wicked additions sets. People see the elements of these sets, and their jaws hit the floor.

The Cavernous Passage set has some really amazing stuff, really shakes things up.

Brvheart,

I Whole Heartedly understand... But they are Just Soo Kewl looking... Time to Start a New SW Group...<Grin>...

Law,

Yes, I Have Often "Looked" (Internet Speaking), at Cavernous Passages AND Advanced Builder as Likely Useful sets... (And I Do have a Few Pieces of the Advanced Builder Stuff that I have Purchased Individually)... Guess with my Most Recent WotC Purchases taken into account (Parden the Pun), Dropping $109.00 on the Cavernous Passages has been a case of ongoing Priority Reassignment...<Chuckle>... What is Your Favorite Element(s) in the Cavernous Passages Set?

And with regard to Other Great Sets... Right there with ya on Fantasy Floors, and WE I & II... Though Honestly I Don't think I have ever really Opened a Box of this Stuff and thought "Well, I Don't really Need/ Want any of this"...<Smirk>... I Even Love the Much Bashed Traps Sets... And...(Dare I Say it)... The Ores Den... Which I Swore I would not Invest in because of the Cost, but Broke Down when I "Needed" it... And Now I Love it, and would not mind owning more of them... Though I Do not Encourage DF to Make Future One Of Rooms...

Well, Advanced Builder is nice, but it's more useful than attractive -- very useful, but you don't exactly open the set and then pause over individual pieces.

Now, the cavernous passages .. .wow.

My favorite is probably the curved piece with the circular arch in it, the little overhanging thing.

Second favorite, probably the 4-way intersection with all the pools of water. Tied for that, maybe, the piece that opens up into a cavern, looks like a cavern piece with a little tail.

I also love the straight piece with the water (all the pooled water in these pieces look great!)

Oh, and the T-shaped cross with the sort of "pit" in the middle, where the paths intersect --

Yes, this is truly a great set. I know it's a chunk of cash, but when you get it open and take everything out, it's clearly worth it. The pieces are HUGE, I don't think that comes across online. The sheer size, the amount of detail, all of it -- if you haven't seen it in person, you can't really appreciate it.

It's really a winner of a set.

Void,

Yeah, but I have 4 games running now and around 20 players to try and please. 4 of which quit to run Forget it Realms, but we are adding as many or more new people. I agree with Law that the Cavernous Passage set is a great set, but I think I use the Advanced Builder more as I do more rooms than Caverns.

Law,

I am not sure which Piece of the Cavernous Passages has the "Arch" in it as I Have not seen the Set up Close... (No Real Game Store in Town)... But I Loved all of the Little Water Pools in the Original Set, I thought this was an awesome addition of Detail, so If DF has Done More of the Same then I am Heartened to hear it... And Truth be Told I would Hate to miss out on Buying the Set because of its being discontinued or some such Silliness so I really oughta' get on it... Any Chance of Seeing a "Close up" of this Arch Piece?

Brvheart,

Too Kewl on Having too Many Gamers as opposed to too few! and LOL on "Forget it Realms"... As Far as Game worlds Go I Still have a sentimental attachment to Grey Hawk... Though I Have really only run Games in my Own Worlds for many years now... (Don't think I Even own the old Grey Hawk World map any more...<Sigh>...) Good Luck on SW though!
