It is Sort of a Tough Call, I Mean I LOVE the Basic Dungeon Crawl as Much as the Next Addict, but Thwere is Something about City Adventures that Get my Blood Pumping...

I can't get the knack of city adventuring, not that I don't own a lot of city suppliments including some very detailed ones such as CSIO, CSWE and Tarantis that take it down to the streets and buildings. I do try though. I am currently running Trouble at Durbenford that has quite a bit of role playing in it as opposed to Roll Playing!

CSIO? CSWE? City States I'd Guess of What? And Interesting Distinction between Role Playing and role playing... City Adventures Rely heavily on Random Encounters and "Mini" Missions, in my experience anyway... And Even If I Do Not Set Out Initially with a Full on "Story Line" it is often possible to begin Stringing the Mini Plots Generated by random Encounters and the Like into a Theme... What Happens when the PCs' Follow a Would be Pick Pocket, What do they Do When they Find a Dead Body in an Alley? Or a Dyeing Orc? How did they Get there Etc... Not to Mention the Garden Variety Good Deeds Stuff, the Priests At the Temple of ____ Need to Find Out Why The Black Smith has Not Delivered the ____ Ordered Last Month... You Know... But Eventually One THing Could Lead to Another Kinda' Stuff... And In Fact If Made to Role Play the Walk to the Market Place from the Inn... Well In Big Old City Anything Can Happen... Which Would be Why the City Stuff Intrigues me...

City State of the Invincible Overlord and City State of the World Emporer by Judges Guild. CSIO is being redone for d20 and will be out later in the year. They are both highly detailed and CSIO was the FIRST citystate done back in 1975-76.

I think I got mine around then also. The Revised Edition was on sale thru around 1985 until the 99 reprint.

I Remember it being Printed on Really Kewl Paper that had a Light Brown Kind of Parchment Color... I Really Need to Look in My Old D&D Stuff and See if I Still Have it... Don't remember the Other One, but I Do Remember Some other Campaign Settings in the Late Eighties... It Seems one of them Was A Dwarven Theme?

Sounds like Glory Hole Dwarven Mine if it was JG. There wilderness maps were even better. The brown maps had sort of a pebble finish to them and you could buy blank maps. I still have a few around somewhere.

Not Sure that it was Judges Guild but it Could Have Been, there was Also An Elven "Territory" I Think... I Don't know, I Tried to Find the Box that I believe this stuff to be in, I Think it is in Storage, but now my Curiosity is Up...<Grin>... It has Been So Long Since I Ran Anything that was Not my Own Campaign Stuff...

Me I use mostly premade material having closed my own campaign a few years ago with 3E coming out. I am still working on updating it slowly, but 3.5 made it even more of a pain.
