LoneStarr,

Just nosey; any plans for the Sci-Fi tiles to be photographed? I only ask because I'm not seeing any mntion of them here, and I use them frequently. In fact, the big deal game ReBob and I are building for next year's Shore Leave will use Sci-Fi, caverns, Fantasy, and possibly DoE (I'm not sure yet about that one), all in multiple levels beneath a Medieval village!
A printed map of what tiles we use, and what sets they came from, WILL be VERY HELPFUL!

See ya!

Jim

Hey Jim,

In the other topic, I suggested we get give donations of Sci-fi sets instead so the Sci-fi people can get in on the computer mapping action! 8-)

LoneStarr -

If someone else took the pics and sent them to you as bmp's or 100% jpg's, could you do them from there? I know it sounds like I'm volunteering (NO! NOT AGAIN!! STOP HIM!!!), but I'd have to back off that until after Christmas - I have WAY TOO MUCH STUFF on my plate right now. I'm jsut wondering.
I ask about sending the files to you, because you've done this much of the photos, and I'd hate to see them get messed up, or lose continuity with what is already done. NOT because I think you should be stuck with the job with no relief in sight! I know I DON'T really trust myself any farther than take the pics and ship 'em, if no one steps forward.

Just idle thinking and wishing, not intended to be pressure. Your life and your hobby are YOURS - as should be your money (NO, Jeff, you CAN'T have ALL of it - he HAS to eat and pay rent!).

See ya!

The illustrator sci-fi tiles are already done:

www.colinburns.com/games/mastermaze

As I don't have my intel macbook pro yet, I haven't fired up tilemapper yet, but these work in dundjinni. It should be easy for someone to make the xml for these...

As a matter of fact, my picture on the left is one of the sci-fi tiles. 8-)

Hi everyone,

of course I could do the 'compilation' of pfworks drawings for the SCI-FI line and put them in the current work. As long as the drawings are accurate (and I think they are, since they seem to be of the same quality as the other ones) it should be possible to create a set file without having the 'live' pieces available and of course most of them are just Sci-Fi versions of 'Fantasy' Tiles, so I can compare the drawings with them if necessary. If no one else feels able to do that, I might do it after I finished the cavern series. I took the photos for caverns today and so I hope they can be done during the next days or at least next week.

If anyone is able to take appropriate photos and is also able to postprocess them and rescale them to 100dpi and furthermore can put them somewhere for download, I could also create the approriate set files for them. A lot of tips and hints about photographing tiles and postprocessing them can be found in thes Tile System threads and especially in 'The making of ...' Thread (www.dwarvenforge.com/dwarvenforums/viewtopic.php?id=1148) in this forum.

To all who made this possible

A great Thanks / Danke Schoen - I just downloaded the files and played around with the program. I managed to make my first map in no time at all. Now I have to add my own inventory.

This was something I was looking for quite a while. A great add on to a DF collection. And it would be great to have somewhere more prominently on the DF pages a pointer to this software as well as updates. But looking at the dates some of this is pretty recent.

You're welcome! Bitte schoen!

It is not only pretty recent.
It is still under development.
CRasterImage allready announced some further features and enhancements for the software and I am also going to improve the photos and tile set files a little further. Especially we want to use the 'flip' function for different tile views, instead of switching between drawing and photos, since the latter one can also be done by changing the tile set on the fly, when both sets are properly constructed and the software gets an appropriate handling for 'flipped' tiles that are not available in the other set (just displaying the standard version of the tile). This would also reduce the effort for maintaining the three different tile set versions to two, since the 'flipphotos' version would no longer be needed.

For those guys who are also owning and using the Sci-Fi stuff:
I have a compilation of pfworks drawings (only a few passages needed some additional transparency space added) and an appropriate set xml file almost ready for publishing. After a short testing this evening I think I can make the file available on the web page.
You can easily add a reference to it in your 'alldrawings' file then, until the next 'Ultimate' file is released (I want to wait until the next release from CRasterImage is available and potentially until some image polishing has been done on the photos).

LoneStarr -

Pardon me whilst I bow before you and kiss the ground you walk upon; I'd kiss your foot, but SOMEONE here would twist that into some kind of sick joke. I'm not sure who would twist it, but the list of suspects is L - O - N - G! (ALMOST as many as there are veteran members of the forum   )

Anyway, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, because that has been the ONE sticky part of using tileSystem for me. NOW I can do the entire Xyzzx'x Quest layout.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that IS drawings-only, right? No photos (yet), correct?
That's not a problem or complaint, I just want to make sure I understand what's coming down the pipeline for now.

See ya, and again, EXCELLENT JOB, CRasterImage, LoneStarr, pfworks, and EVERYONE ELSE who has pitched in to make TileSystem WORK so well!

Yes, it will only be the drawings, due to the known problem me not having the Sci-Fi tiles (so far), which makes photos impossible currently.
Creating a set xml for the existing pfworks drawings and tuning some of them to work with the TS was not much effort, so it will be online soon (during the next two hours, i guess).

The Sci-Fi drawings set for the Tile System is now available at:

www.muinimula.de/Muini/de/2nd/tools/mastermaze/Mastermaze.html

Until the next release of the Ultimate set you have to use the separate Sci-Fi set and copy the content to the right places.
It also contains the a new background.png (with the DF logo like a watermark on a light yellow background).
If you want to add the file to a 'All' file, just add the filename to the basetilesets list therein.
Change the name reference to the background image in the file to 'background.png' if you like.
