Hi folks,

The subject says it all really - I managed to pick up a box of four of the above fairly cheaply. But now I've got them, I'm not sure how to use them...

Their walls seem to be low enough that you need to place them on top of another floor piece, but where to place them and how to combine them with other pieces? I perhaps need to get a box or three of other DF bits out and have a play around to see how to use them, but if anyone has used them in a setup and has any good tips to pass on, I'd be grateful.

Thanks,
Phil

Medieval Buildings Set, Caverns x2, Cavernous Passages, Room and Passage, Deluxe Room, Octagonal Room, Narrow Passages, Advanced Builder, Wicked Additions I, Wicked Additions II, Traps I, Traps II, lots of individual pieces. I want Cavernous Rivers, and Cavernous Lakes, and Cavernous Ledges. Can you tell that I like caverns?

i used one in a "X" intersection. when i first laid out the set up i actually put in a T intersection to fool them(i love this tactic). the characters proceeded up the base of the T, and when the paladin suddenly felt on edge he chose to use his detect evil ability. to his surprise he could see a glow in a tiny hole at the end of the T where a goblin stood on watch on the other side. this is when i swapped in the X intersection for the T and placed the arrow loop with the goblin behind it. fortunately the goblin had his back turned(a 3 on his spot roll) and didn't sound the alarm. soon enough he was alerted to the heavily armored group and rang the alarm bell. the alarm roused the orc guards who were off duty and sleeping at the end of the hall that the characters had just come down(and foolishly not investigated). this encounter ended up claiming the life of the 3rd lvl paladin when it really shouldn't have been a hard fight. goes to show terrain makes tactics very crucial.

i think the real utility of the those arrow slits are with the passage pieces(as above) and as architectural features in a room(keeps the PCs guessing bout traps).

i do like the full sized arrow slits with the full floors a bit better, but these pieces do make for some really nasty spots.

philhendry,

They Can Also be Used as a Small Dais, or Can be Placed In Between Regular Wall Sections In a Room Once "Discovered"...
