As mentioned in many treads further down, most of us agree to this.

We would like to see more doors, espacially large doors and some special
ones.

The levers sound really cool, camoudragon did a useful lever set out of LEGO-Antennae,
maybe he shows us some pics.

I love the switch idea. And, yeah, there are lots of people who are clammoring for door packs.

Personally, I feel like I'm on the same wavelength as Stefan on this one -- there's a lot of other stuff I'd put before doors. Doors are cool, and I wouldn't mind one or two new varieties packed into new sets, but I wouldn't want to see just a Fantasy Door pack with an asst. of doors and nothing else.

I guess we'll have to wait and see where Stefan takes us next!

Hey Guys!

For a teaser of double doors, find the door set done by yansolousa on eBay; I've got one and it's GREAT for DF MM!

See ya!

I hear you guys...our next dungeon set will have a variety of doors...along with other stuff...

I think Grand double doors are definitely at the top of the wanted list...also a reinforced, wrought iron/metal door. Those two are definite. Perhaps an entire door set might be doable too.

I too would love to see more doors, especially double doors, a gear-like door and a big reinforce steel door or vault type door. Acuallly all the doors mentioned by the original poster sound really cool. I'd love a Fantasy Door set, but I'd be happy with at least a few more types of doors (including big double doors) in the next Master Maze Wicked Additions type set.

I'd agree with this one, any idea when the Non-Detachable door will be back in stock, I could use at least a dozen.

Jumping on the slightest hint... ...Does that mean there is a new "Classic" dungeon set in the offing?

Thanks for the kind words about switches. I must disagree with your sentiment about doors.

Doors are a cool and fundamental part of the dungeon building experience. If you take the same stone walls and change the doors, you can change a dungeon's theme. A crude wooden plank door turns stone walls into an orcish hide out. An elegant curved door turns stone walls into an elven dedoubt carved from the living rock. A door with egyptian heiroglyphs turn those same walls into the pharaoh's lost tomb.

You must at some level understand this. I have seen your exquisite pictures of the 'Hall of the Snake King' which is surely a tour de force of the use of customized scenics and different doors to create new moods and settings. You use hand-painted Grendel and Armorcast resins, but surely that option is not available to everyone. The double door on the cathedral room was, as an aside, masterfully integrated. It looked like it just rolled off the DF production line.

A door pack that contained two each of say a dozen kinds of door would be a pack I would need many many copies of.

Well, sadly, I have to admit that I didn't do the Snake King setup -- that was Invincible Overlord, I believe. He's the one who can do those fantastic layouts with tons of great accessories.

But I do take your point about doors. I just feel like, while doors help and remain an important touch for this sort of thing, they're more effective when accompanied by other pieces.

A crude wooden plank door, for example, would do more to suggest orcs if there were also walls stained with blood or awkwardly patched holes. An elegant curved door, again, would be more effective as an elven portal if the walls were more graceful and refined -- sorta like the Haven of Goodness that's been suggested as a companion to the Den of Evil. A door with egyptian heiroglyphs would be a fantastic part of a whole Egyptian setting, with walls and columns and altars all with full-on Egyptian themes.

I just feel, personally, that a set of doors would be neat, but for the effects you're talking about, I'd want to see a lot more than just new doors.

Stefan has indicated that more doors are coming, of course, and maybe a door pack. So it looks like it will happen. I was just saying that I can understand why it took this long -- I'd rather have things like the Cavernous Water sets and hte Den of Evil, not to mention the MBS, which give us fully-formed new environments, than just new doors to put in our old dungeon sets.

That said, I think your suggestions about doors are all great, and I'd love to see them. It sounds like a grand double-door and an iron reenforced door are both pretty much locked in place for future releases, with other options on the table as well. I'm really looking forward to them. The original DF door is probably, IMHO, the weakest link in the original DF offerings -- adequate, but not stellar. The newer door from the Fantasy Starter Set is a far superior door, though it does make "stacking" impossible (so, incidentally, does the original door, but only slightly) The MBS doors are a bit awkward, since the decision to keep them wall-height makes them more square than we might expect... but they're still nice. The "hidden" doors in the DoE are more effective as secret doors than anything else. The SF doors are just amazing -- great stuff, and one of the best features of hte SF line.

So -- yeah, really good doors are worth getting excited about. All I meant in my previous post was that they haven't been something I personally have been excited about -- but that doesn't mean I won't be salivating once pics of new doors start circulating....
