@Rabbit, my reasoning was similar to you (but I have a bunch of Cavern and Dungeon pieces):
Gorgon tiers because its good value and GOLEMS .... EIGHT GOLEMS!!!!
GOLEMS .... EIGHT GOLEMS!!!!

cant wait to get our paws on these badboys!
To be sure! The Golems that come out of the wall are BAD ASS. I would have bought the set even if it didn't save me buying additional wall and corner pieces, just for the Golems.

 Your whole order is unpainted.
This almost makes me break out in hives. If there is something I want and painted is sold out, I will paint it, but the thought of painting THOUSANDS of pieces...

Mad props for your painting fortitude!
I'll likely be painting for a long time. Floors first, and they're easy... I'll probably paint some classic walls or passage walls next depending on need. They're pretty easy, too. Ledges will be early on - once they arrive; they're simple. I have a set of KSI doors painted already, so I can wait a little there... It all comes down to what pieces will make my life as a GM more sane.

Also, I figure almost half of my stuff will be in a sandstone finish, but none of the GMs in my group need that right now. Jade Shrine is also a "later" set piece. Once I pare it down, it's manageable. I have no idea what I'll do once KSVI comes rolling up to my doorstep, though!
I did that with two sets of Caverns - they're brown, like a dark cave - but painting that nearly drove me nuts (it didn't take too long, but I was ready to use it). The pools and mold on the cavern walls I obsessed over. Other than that it goes pretty fast. But still.
You are a FAR more patient person than I.

I went a bit light on KSV and despite that am not really worried about painting it all. It will take me a full day, maybe two, as painting dwarvenite is not hard at all. No washing, or such needed. Just pick three colors or so, and go to town. It is tedious, for sure, but it is not hard to get results as good as or better than the DF paint job.
The pillars will slow things down a little I think. And I tend to obsess over the little fiddly bits; wall traps and decorations will be time sinks for me. I'm not terrified; realistic, but not terrified.

Did I mention I've got about 190 pieces of Mantic terrain showing up about the same time? Yeah... most of that will remain unpainted for a bit. Debris and library shelving in brown plastic is close enough for emergency use.

@Rabbit, my reasoning was similar to you (but I have a bunch of Cavern and Dungeon pieces):
Gorgon tiers because its good value and GOLEMS .... EIGHT GOLEMS!!!!
Deadly Corners is probably the best set in the whole campaign when you look at the versatility of the pieces you get. I will hopefully pick up at least one more.
Eldritch Pools has some cool atmosphere (especially the obelisk and those portals).
Inner Sanctum because I LOVE the snake cult, but don't really love the whole Shrine piece.
Emperors Mega pack for that classy temple look.
Lava terrain trays because it's just bad ass.
Ledges because I love ruins and want some borders for my lava moats/rivers.
Floor Traps for the snake pit - love that piece. I think the pit of snakes may be my favorite piece of the whole thing.

I would have done more, but keep reminding myself that even with 12'x4' of playable table space, there is only so much stuff I can set up at one time. This is what stopped me from getting the whole (DoD) - I calculated how much space I would need for a half set-up (not to mention a whole) and it's staggering. The Lava Bridge alone is almost six square feet of space (it's huge). The magnets were key for me and I limited myself to two terrain trays to start so I can check their durability (don't want any bending). Pre-building would rock for me (I have space), but eating up time quickly assembling stuff is killing me.
