I know Stefan hates numbers.

I love numbers.

Thank you, Jonathan!

I think it depends on what we are talking about and how the data is presented. Let's look at one set:

Cavern Water Tiles Data:
I took some water cavern tiles, grabbed a random sampling of five of each tile type, and measured each piece both horizontally and vertically. You can see my measurements below.

Image

If Dwarven Forge decided to mold additional 'Water Cavern' tiles at the new/closer to exact 2" you would be look at 50.8mm across in both directions for each piece.
NOTE: 50.8mm is, at minimal, at least 2mm larger than the absolute largest observed measurement for the previous set of water tiles.

Where would this leave us?
New 2" water cavern tile: (50.8mm)
- Average size original of water cavern tile (48.17mm)
--------------------------------------------------------------------
= New cavern water tiles (2.63mm) larger.

Just *ONE TILE* would be 2.63mm or about (0.1 inches or 3/32nds inches) longer.

Think about it way:
If you built a river, 10 tiles long, comprised of "original straight bank" tiles on one side, with 'alternate shore line new-sized straight banks' on the other side other, the difference in length between sides would be a FULL INCH. That is significant.

Give this man a medal. This is the kind of analysis we need.

I suppose the question now is whether or not we're ever going to get a "fixed" edition of dungeons (and maybe dwarvenite catacombs) in the future.

Thanks. You did such a good job ilistrating and quantifying what I have been trying to tell people. Sure there might be a little more variation between KS1/KS2 and KS3 but it has never been perfect especially within the resin sets that a lot of people hold up as the gold standard.

Fantastic! I had mostly come to terms with the issue already and this does a great job dispelling any lingering questions or doubts. Kudos.

Impressive and thorough work! I am very grateful for all the time you've spent in addressing this issue and consider it going above and beyond, but very much appreciated.

... and the added benefit of getting an impartial assessment that, I think, is above reproach, is going to be very helpful. I would like to get this added to JenneyOC's Q&A, with your permission.
