The floors pivot on small copper wire pins. I cut the hatch at a bevel so it will not fold down, but can rotate up. I cut and trimmed the baffle so it rotates down or up. I cut the two apart at angle so that the baffle catches on the hatch. To operate, lift the baffle up enough to be to rotate the hatch up, then rotate baffle down.

When I first looked I thought, "Ah neat, but I'm not into dice towers." But as a trap door floor, this is very cool. 8-)

I have to ask other than the pins (I pinned a cut out section of stone wall and it pivots on a wire.) the floor pieces rotate on, what or how do you support the floor in the middle at the break when it's closed?

Thanks for sharing. ;)

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing about using it as an open frame, but was stymied by how to remove the floors. You got me thinking some more. If the hinge pins holes have an open slot on one or both sides, the hatch and ramp floors would easily remove to leave the frame. Other floors could also be inserted too. More ideas bubbling. I am going to make a pair tonight with KSIII floors to demo the idea.

OBTW, the catch lip on the hatch holds the ramp in position and the stop on the bottom of the hatch keeps it from opening down; so normally it functions as normal floor.

I don't generally care for dice towers, they've always seemed like a cute but unnecessary gizmo and I like handling and fidgeting with my dice...

But goddamn that is a brilliant idea and now I want one!

The possibilities of double use as trap floors is awesome too! And now that I think about it a bit, this could probably be made as a 4x4 "open frame" people have discussed for making open second story rooms, and the trap floors/dice baffles could slot or snap in.

I like dice towers especially ones that hide in my terrain. I thought of an easy way to make one using the CBS floors. Basically hinge two inner floors in a regular floor. One rotates up to open the hatch and the other rotates down to 45 degrees (against a built in stop) to form the baffle ramp. Then you can build a dice Tower alternating directions with an exit to a vacant wall or a dice balcony.

You could also use this to make traps and build a DF Mousetrap game to make dice roll through your castle.
