Here is another by Runehammer, on how he does ice. Using fire on foam... it's a neat look.

EDIT - There are other ice videos down the side bar too.

Yeah Hank over at Rune Hammer is awesome! he has a great channel, great tips for gaming, great writer, and a Great DM. Plus he loves his beer and wine lol

Static glass applicators are a gift from the gods! because rubbing a balloon on your head after awhile gets old and leaves a bigger mess and doesn't look as good.

Great pictures! I tried hard not to get distracted by those gnarly trees in your background lol

I forgot that old trick :D

I love making trees

Hail fellow Mortals! I believe I found a safe place in which I was able to post about this topic.

Please feel free to Heckle and harassed me for ignorance if I have failed and overlooked a similar post in which I could have posted in.

I've been making different Terrains and in doing so I found a couple different techniques I figured I would show you my techniques and ask how do you go about making your Terrain?

Does anyone here use the static grass applicator? https://youtu.be/ZO1jrUL_PLU

Plus that guy is just a brilliant person. He has techniques for things I never even thought of.

I figured that would be the first link, here's another link to another guy who does terrain with foam similar to how i do it https://youtu.be/HZyPeKY5QMg

I'll post more but I figured this can get us started...
Yes, I have a static grass applicator.

The Runehammer Video is a bit long but worth watching. Very interesting tips on texturing with rocks and sponge painting.

Image

Also try natural sponges

Image

I also have a bag of rocks. The matt was sponge painted

Image

I used a round sponge but the flat sponge is a good tip

Image

I also use texture rollers

Image

A homemade texture roller and another Greenstuff Word clay roller. The cobblestone roller will also texture foam. I like the 18 inch version better for foam.I also made a full size rolling pin into a grit texture roller.

Image

I have used larger bricks to texture pink foam but never as large as Rune Hammer.I usually use smaller quartzite gravel size chunks to texture. Some people like balls of tin foil.

I took the time to watch the Runehammer link. Long but well worth it. I always learn something.I hope my tips will be helpful for any one who wants to try some of Runehammers techniques

Some waterfall techniques

if you are into laying out your own resin lakes and such I like to use paint like this guy to make ice

the videos explain it better than my pictures. But you can image, I am redoing the basement to fit my new layout.

Also here is a cheap way to make farm lands

That grass thing is awesome. Most of the grass I see like that is pre-made and you just buy a pack.
Yeah and people typically use moss and whatnot for bushes but I actually use that Luke's technique on building trees too

I just bought three packs of grass for $6 each at the FLGS. If I had more time, this looks like a great way to economize...plus more options to customize.
I like variety lol

Luke is really good at showing all the different ways you can make grass and what not so search it up

I also like his rock technique
