My table came with the house when we bought it.
Two 3' wide closet doors...

It varies for me, so I went with my biggest I typically use. Sometimes it's a 3'x3' or 4'x4' area, sometimes I have that and a couple side areas of similar sizes, so it grows. I have an old boardroom table from a City Hall, so my table is pretty big. (Best $50 I ever spent!)

While it can vary, and my table is bigger, most builds are in the 2x2 or 3x3 size area. It depends.

When I was playing, a lot of layouts were "wargame? size (I guess)" of playable layout dungeon.
The table was 6'-0" x 6'-8" can you guess what makes that size?
The 6'-8" is a hint... you walk through at least one every day... ;)
Anyway with space for players papers and drinks that left about 4'x6'.

38" by 60" so I voted 4'x6' as closest after rounding :P

Edit: Changed my vote to 4'x4' after I realized that is closest when calculating by square feet. Now I need a bigger house, so I can have a bigger game room, holding a bigger table...

Similar to Magniopi I use a 3 x 4 battlemat and that gets used as the template to build out encounters.

We have a 3'x4' elevated surface for terrain that sits on a larger table.
Every single game, I wish our actual playing surface was bigger, but people want room for their books, drinks, etc., on the larger table's overhang.

I do not mean table size. I know Wargaming setups, city and castles may be different.
