Bit of news, Tony's Aux Command Console is up... Really like these just ordered another one.
I have to blush at this, but he used my picture for the Auction!

Darn i didn't think my painting skills were that good, i just rushed that puppy out to get it done so i could have a cool new piece in one of the setups for the contest.

I am looking at some of Wiz Kids stuff from the Hero clicks. One in particular T.O. Morrow from the DC line, i am watching an e-bay where i can get them for under 0.25 per mini, just waiting on my new contract before i make any big purchases like that.
I was VERY disapointed by the Lab and it's "scientist" selection , there were 3-4 sculpts that worked really well out of it (3 sculpts out of 102 figures, but those "102" are only really like 35 figures for the most part it's all just repaints for LE, or different bases). There were some other decent things in the set, but in many respects i really think WK dropped the ball and continually does so with the stupid Pogs. Make a Victims pack and i'd buy it, heck i'd buy it over the game just to get pre-painted modern minis, and i think there are a decent number of poeple who would, they don't see a market for it. On a side note I hope Reaper does listen to the request for townies in the PPPM line, that is something i will snap up...

Ones i liked and would use

The Brain eater i think looks pretty sci fi, and i keep meaning to pull the brain out of his hand and put it into a little tube i have from work with some clear resin and make some "brains in tanks" just been busy.

Some other minis i liked from the set

and all the Zombies ;)

I need minis of non combat people. I want scientists and non combatants to man various work stations as well as storm troopers blasting away behind them... ;)

I have wanted non combatants in Fantasy for a while (pre-painted naturally) and now i want them for Sci-Fi... :)

Just off the top of my head, one place you might turn is Heroclix -- there are many generic "thugs" that would need minimal converting to become generic workers. And there are probably lots of scientist types that, again after some conversions, would work. The only one that springs to mind is something like Dr. Octopus, who has been depicted in a labcoat. There was also, come to think of it, an expansion for Horrorclix called "The Lab," and while I haven't seen those figures, I can't imagine that they wouldn't have great mad scientist types that could be cleaned up into research folk.

And then there's the easiest route -- Megaminis has a $20 pack of "civilians" that are close to 25mm scale, a little smaller than what we're used to these days. They are mostly contemporary cityfolk, not Sci-Fi, but some of them would work. And at $20 for the pack, you could probably get your money's worth. Some would be useful right outa the box, others might require some small conversion skills. (I'm not sure what you'd do with, say, the woman with the baby in the stroller, or the mailperson....)

They come unpainted, but here's a pic of them all painted up:

Yeah, that was the thing i mentioned before.

As a note, i'm not going to post verbatim what i he sent me in an e-mail, but there may be more stuff coming soon.

In the future there might be a floor tile with with something special and an Auxiliery Command Console, which from the description Sounds Really cool.

I like it, can't wait till it goes up on sale, I can see having up to 4 of those in a really big room, with each station maned by various workers. Though now i am in the situation with Sci-Fi i have been in with D&D. I need minis of non combat people. I want scientists and non combatants to man various work stations as well as storm troopers blasting away behind them... ;)

Shade;

Sounds like what I got from him as well.
Tony is a great guy to deal with, wouldn't you agree?

got my stuff from tony today... 8 sets each of the two kinds of passage conversion bits, four of the damaged/holed floor tile, and he threw in one of the varient floors, a barrel of some sci fi look (cargo!) and two of what i believe are round computer stations... maybe three/four inches across, an overall domed profile with terminals set around the circumference, and a central pedestal type table base. way cool.

I second Ghenghis Ska!
More Sci-Fi Accessories; turn Tony Loose and let him RUN!!!

Jeff, Tony is a resource that is NOT to be passed by. As Stefan has admitted, Tony created the Sci-Fi set, so he should be able to continue. Encurage him to expand YOUR sets as well as creating his own goodies.
Those articles and accessories that a MAJORITY of users ask for should be contracted from Tony for DF-marked items. Stuff that MANY but NOT A MAJORITY of users ask for should be considered as Tony 'one-offs' with limited production, only enough to keep up with demand.

Yeah, I know; here I am, giving you business suggestions, but I don't have a business, successful or otherwise. Well, I DO have ideas and suggestions, but YOU are the one who knows EXACTLY where DF stands, financially. That's why I suggest, and don't command.

Perhaps you can get him to just sculpt the accesory set for you guys, or a second set (hint hint really want some more Sci-fi accersories). It will leave you open to do the Water set etc, but give us Sci-fi fans a chance to get even more accersories. ;)

I can understand about not wanting the same stuff you already have...so perhaps it's not a good idea to try to use his pieces...wouldn't save us any money if we have to buy them anyway, and we are fine with Tony just selling his stuff and showing his pieces on our web site. He is the originator of the Sci-Fi "look" we went with after all, and so I feel he has a sort of artistic leeway to "add" to his creation.
Some of his ideas are pretty kool though, and perhaps it can stimulate something similar from us. Yes, the "filler" pieces look like something that most people want so perhaps Jeff will consider adding something like it to the upcoming Set...

Oooh, I'm jealous. I like that new one. Though, to be honest (with myself!) I have to admit I'm glad I got the damaged one as a promo. The damaged floor is the kinda piece you need only one, but the new floor seems like I'd want at least 9 to get the most out of it. I full on 3x3 room in that style would be cool, or enough to make a long walkway out of it. But just one? It would be fun, but not particularly useful.

I'll have to see if he's gonna get more....
