LordDust is right. PMS are really just handled like a forum thread between the two people. The while mailbox look is mainly a facade.

I expect it doesn't consider the message "sent" (aka delivered?) until it has been opened. This way you, as the sender, know it was received.

My impression, which may be incorrect, was that it sits there until the recipient opens it up. I saw one of mine about the Gen Con get together sit for quite a while before it moved out from there. The individual it was sent to didn't seem to be active on the forums during that time period either.

I know it's not just me as I've heard people mention it here and there, but why do some PMs just sit in my outbox when I send them instead of really sending?
